Our client, a leading materials manufacturer is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant in the Worcester, MA area. The Cost Accountant who will take a lead role in the analysis and preparation of all aspects of inventory and manufacturing costing information in a dynamic, growth-oriented, privately held group of companies. The cost accountant’s combination of strong technical and communication skills will facilitate confident interactions and exchange of information with staff in all areas of the company. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in manufacturing processes, in spending time on the plant floor observing activities to gain information, and has experience in providing detailed and accurate product costing information and variance analysis. The Cost Accountant will report to the Controller and will be involved in the development of financial information to help improve operational efficiency.

• Accounting designation or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

• 5-10 years experience in a cost accounting role with exposure to general accounting functions.

• Hands on experience working on the plant floor with operators/engineers to validate costing assumptions.

• Advanced knowledge of excel, analytical systems (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) and ERP systems (IFS preferred) in a manufacturing environment.

• Strong aptitude for learning and understanding systems (reporting, process, software) and methods.

• Confident in the conversion of weights and measures between imperial and metric systems.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.

• Experience in the implementation of finance-based projects and initiatives.

• Ability to travel to other locations in the US and Canada as needed.
