R&D Chemist
Small family-owned company looking for an experienced formulation chemist to join their R&D Team! Great opportunity to work with friendly colleagues who are willing to help others!
Duties:
- Develop and perform all formulation requirements including new and innovative product research, raw material research / sourcing, formulation development, product efficacy studies, lab scale production, stability studies, manufacturing protocol development, specification creation, and production scale up activities
- Work directly with Quality to develop product specifications and test methods
- Work directly with contract customers to develop new products and oversee successful production scale up
- Evaluate new and alternative raw materials for functionality, stability and cost reduction opportunities
- Identify and investigate product improvement possibilities in conjunction with sales and marketing efforts
- Research current and proposed raw materials with respect to state, national and international safety and health regulations and identify areas where formulas may need to be modified
- Maintain laboratory notebooks and associated files and communicate project status to appropriate individuals in a timely manner
- Provide data and recommendations for GHS SDS development
- Develop a working knowledge of all our products and aid with sales, marketing, quality control and other departments as necessary
- Participate in cross functional quality improvement teams
- Perform complaint investigations

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or related science discipline
- 4+ years of new product formulation experience, preferably in consumer products and/or the automotive detailing industry, including compounds, polishes and waxes, tire dressings, car wash, etc.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to meet multiple deadlines with strong organizational and time management skills
- Experience working independently
