Job Description
Family-owned company in business for 90 years is seeking a Chemist experienced in adhesives to work in a customer-focused technical service role. Company is established and also focused on growth and increasing market share!
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for product recommendation, product/process trouble shooting, product quality issues and root cause analysis for existing and prospect customers.
- Independently work on pressure sensitive adhesive projects from formulated resin to plant production and customer trials
- Responsible for internal/external communication on project progress through project team meeting, customer meetings, verbal or email communication
- Contribute to projects and initiatives that are aligned with business growth strategy
- Early engagement in customer interviews to develop clear technical requirements.
- Develop technical plan that includes technical approach, resource needs, testing methods and timeline that aligned with customer and business expectation.
- Test the adhesives and analyze results.
- Upon customer approval of adhesive candidates, scale-up in pilot and production scale
- Lead customer coating trials.
- Provide technical support after products are fully commercialized.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve growth target.
- Provide technical presentation, product features and benefit in support of business growth.
- Ability to perform in a team environment and encourage teamwork and information sharing.
- Manufacturing support, include new product scale up or existing products consistency and quality.
- Observe safety and environmental guidelines while handling products, raw materials and wastes.
- 5-10% travel
Customer Engagement
- Build peer to peer relationships at customers as defined by the Business Leader and Technical Leader

Job Requirements
- AS or BS in Chemistry or Materials Sciences with functional background in polymers, paints, adhesives or coatings
- 1-10 years of work experience in pressure sensitive adhesive experience preferred.
- Experience in emulsion acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive formulation, scale up, coating and manufacturing.
- Understanding of rheology/engineering and coating and drying fundamentals desired
- Strong analytical, creativity and problem-solving
- Has a logical scientific approach to identify problem and solving by understanding the scientific fundamentals of issues.
- Excellent presentation, communications skills, and strong inter-personal skills are required.
- Must have valid driver’s license, reliable car, and passport.
