Job Description

Chemist, Spray Foam

The Chemist, Spray Foam will have the following responsibilities:

  • Responsible for polyurethane formulation and material development and qualification for the New Product Development team.
  • Research and develop and conduct experiments to reformulate improvements to existing products and create new products.  
  • Guide new products from technical innovation to commercial introduction, monitoring progress at every step. 
  • Create and monitor best in class product development strategies.
  • Troubleshoot customer issues.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis and physical property testing of ingredients, materials and products and coordinates with external laboratories as needed.
  • Produce concise, meaningful and complete reports to maintain proper communications.
  • Participate in and maintain influence in appropriate professional and technical societies, standards organizations and forums.
  • Utilize Six Sigma and Lean tools in support of projects
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; detail oriented
  • Strong analytical skills, highly motivated and quick learner
  • Self-motivated and results oriented; initiates and drives value added projects to successful completion
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Job Requirements


*BS/MS Chemistry or Chemical Engineering

*5 years of polyurethane spray foam formulation experience

*Technical writing skills

*Possess product development strategies, project management to commercialization

*Hands on formulation and application work will be part of this role

*Open communicator, with a passion for troubleshooting and innovating

*Someone with an extroverted personality will do better than a quiet researcher

*Self-starter who will look for solutions and even suggest their own projects to management

*Someone that can give direction to one other chemist remotely
