Coating Chemist
Mid-size company looking for an experienced coating chemist out of the chemical industry to formulate and test coatings. This opportunity gives you the ability for growth in your career!
Duties:
- Play a crucial role in formulating, sourcing, and specifying coatings for metal food closures
- Work closely with vendors to develop and specify new materials
- Travel to our manufacturing plants to organize and run projects from conception to production
- Travel is estimated at 30% with overnights (1-3 days at a time for 2-3 times a month)
- Design experiments and run both pilot line trials and manufacturing trials
- Analyze physical and chemical data including FTIR, GC, DSC, TMA, rheology, and physical tests in order to develop relationships between material properties and closures performance
- Provide technical assistance to manufacturing for production and customer issues
- Provide support for regulatory compliance

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field, including Polymers, Materials Science, or Engineering
- Minimum eight (8) years related experience
- Knowledge of statistical analysis
- Knowledge of plastics and polymer/formulations/processing
- Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE)
