Color Development Group Leader

The Color Development Group Leader will have the following responsibilities:

  • Work with Marketing to review/update company Color Strategy
  • Overall responsibility for Color Development Lab: personnel, projects, priorities, procedures, precision and productivity
  • Maintains close communication with Product Development, Marketing, Operations, and other departments in the organization
  • Provides technical support to other departments within the organization as needed
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in different environments and with all levels of the organization
  • Manages own work through planning, execution, analysis, documentation and application of results
  • Time management, prioritization, and planning skills required to balance multiple simultaneous projects
  • Establish and implement plans to mitigate issues to keep projects on schedule
  • Responsible for technical relationships with suppliers of key products and services such as color matching computer systems, optical instruments, colors, pigments, colorant dispensing machines, and color cards/color merchandising tools
  • Supply the Manufacturing with Quality Assurance procedures, equipment, standards and specifications for the production and control of both tinting bases and factory colored paints
  • Support the Marketing group’s efforts with production of various color sales tools such as color cards, Fan Decks, Counter Albums, etc.
  • Provide recommendations to the Vice President of Product Development for expense and capital budget items for the Color Lab

Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field. They may consider a non-degreed individual, but it would have to be someone with direct experience
  • 4-10 years minimum of relative color management experience in the coatings industry, architectural coatings strongly preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred, but not required
  • Strong project management skills. This person will lead projects and direct other employees
  • Leadership skills. This person will manage a small group (3-4 people in the color lab)
  • Strong communication skills. This person will have regular interactions with stores, other departments, customers, etc.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
