Commercialization Scientist

The duties and responsibilities of the Commercialization Scientist will be as follows:

  • Oversee company test runs and plant startups to ensure products are batched and produced according to manufacturing instructions
  • If needed, solve formulation problems (formulation adjustments and product specifications), processing problems, and make decisions regarding whether to proceed, if these issues can only be partially addressed
  • Assist co manufacturing partners in the resolving of production problems and/or formulation issues
  • Report in writing to company on the results of the test runs or startups
  • Aid in the design and review Manufacturing Instructions (MI) for accuracy on ingredient amounts and processes. Ensuring that the formula is manufacturable and stable
  • Coordinates with partner QA teams to organize the shipment of sample to co-packers for test runs and start-ups
  • Assist in writing production manuals as requested by key accounts. Keep manuals updated
  • Work with partner QA teams to facilitate necessary analytical testing and clearly report results
  • Domestic travel up to 50%

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher of Food Science ore related field, supplemented with a minimum of five (5) years relevant work experience in manufacturing and/or quality control with an in-depth knowledge of food manufacturing. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team-based work environment with superior verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communication with all levels of the organization
  • Experience in multi component production runs and quality control
  • Experience in Sensory
  • Ability develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-packers, customers and coworkers
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with foundation of knowledge with ingredient interaction
  • Willingness and ability to travel with little notice
  • Demonstrated capacity to excel within high risk, fast-paced work environment and results driven to provide support and achieve goals established by the division
  • Proven ability to assess business and financial risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions
  • Must have CPG experience
  • Travel is up to 50%
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
