We are seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee all accounting and financial operations for a fast-paced manufacturing organization. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions, leading monthly close processes, maintaining accurate cost accounting systems, and providing operational financial insight to support plant and company performance.

The ideal candidate will have strong manufacturing accounting experience, deep knowledge of standard costing and inventory management, and the ability to work closely with operations leadership in a highly collaborative environment.


Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Management

  • Manage all day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and financial reporting.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal financial controls.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Coordinate annual audits and work with external auditors and tax advisors.

Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance

  • Maintain and improve standard cost systems and product costing methodologies.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances including labor, material, overhead, scrap, and inventory adjustments.
  • Partner with operations and plant leadership to improve cost controls and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor inventory valuation, cycle counts, physical inventory processes, and inventory accuracy.
  • Develop margin analysis and profitability reporting by product line, customer, and plant.
  • Support pricing analysis and operational decision-making through financial data and KPI reporting.

Operational Support

  • Work closely with production, supply chain, purchasing, and warehouse teams to improve financial visibility and accountability.
  • Assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and capital expenditure planning.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and enhanced reporting capabilities.
  • Support ERP system optimization and continuous process improvements.

Leadership & Team Oversight

  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the finance team.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment or Public Accounting 
  • Strong hands-on experience with cost accounting and inventory management.
  • Experience with standard costing, BOMs, labor reporting, and manufacturing variance analysis.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in multi-site manufacturing operations.
  • ERP experience with systems such as Epicor, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or Infor.
  • Experience supporting operational leadership and plant finance initiatives.
