Corporate Quality Systems Manager

This position is responsible for ensuring that all required documentation, records and procedures required by the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSA / Safe Quality Food – SQF), regulatory agencies such as USDA, - AMS, State & local Departments of Health and all Identify Preserved Foods (Kosher, Halal, Organic, etc.) are maintained in an audit ready status at all times.

  • Schedule and conduct comprehensive quarterly internal audits at the plants locations of established SQF procedures and records to calibrate and verify on-line activities conform to requirements. Document all such audit activities and follow-up corrective actions
  • Develop Audit Plan Formats for recurring major audits to ensure a smooth audit information workflow. Techniques can include the use of hyper-links, local record examples in uncontrolled binders, etc.
  • Participate as a non-member reviewer at plant HACCP Plan meetings ensuring that each plan is maintained, kept current and that the Plan CCP’s &U Pre-Requisite Programs are verified and validated as required by the plan
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of quality and food safety training
  • Provide direct oversight to the company’s quality requirements associated with Distribution Center activities
  • Oversee direct reports and evaluate their performance to assure that all policies, procedures, programs and systems are fully implemented
  • Ensure proper maintenance of the Controlled Documents and Controlled Records Corporate Folders and oversee / audit similar records at the plant level
  • Establish contact with peers from respected companies as well as attends relevant meetings and symposia to maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and practices as a means of continuous external benchmarking
  • Responsible to immediately report Food Safety and Quality issues to management
  • Perform assigned Supplier Audits in compliance with guidelines established in the Supplier Quality Manual
  • Maintain records of Approved Supplier Documents and Audit Reports

  • Undergraduate degree in Biology, Food Science or related field. Graduate degree (MS/MA preferred) with 3+ years direct Quality Systems / SQF GFSI food processing or manufacturing plant experience mandatory.  Advanced HACCP, cGMP & SQF Training from a nationally recognized firm is a plus
  • Strong organizational, leadership and problem solving skills along with the ability to work effectively with cross functional departments within the organization. Must be a self-starter and self-motivated.  Demonstrated proficiency using Word, Excel, Power Point, etc. is required.  Excellent written and verbal skills are a must
  • Highly detailed, perfection oriented and capable of working independently as well as leading a team. This position requires effectively influencing individuals over which there is no direct authority
