Job Title: Cost Accountant (Manufacturing / Chemical Industry)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant with a minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing or chemical manufacturing environments. This role is responsible for analyzing production costs, maintaining cost accounting systems, and supporting financial planning and operational decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and hands-on experience with inventory, standard costing, and variance analysis in a production setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and analyze standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead
• Perform cost variance analysis (material, labor, overhead) and provide actionable insights
• Monitor inventory transactions, including raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods
• Collaborate with operations to ensure accurate bill of materials (BOM) and routing data
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations
• Prepare cost reports, margin analysis, and profitability assessments
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives
• Analyze manufacturing processes to identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiencies
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
• Support audits by providing cost-related documentation and analysis

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Minimum of 3 years of cost accounting experience in manufacturing or chemical manufacturing
• Strong understanding of standard costing and inventory valuation methods
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in chemical, process, or batch manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with process costing and yield analysis
• CPA, CMA, or progress toward certification
• Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives
