Customer Technical Service Chemist

A global manufacturer is looking for a customer technical service chemist to travel to customers and perform testing and data analysis on sensors!  If you have a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a minimum of 2 years of experience in industry, this could be a great opportunity for you.  Our client offers an excellent benefits package and has strong tenure!

The Customer Technical Services team is a customer-facing organization within the sensor group.  After the sale, CTS establishes relationships with the customer, coordinating sensor delivery and supporting on-site testing.  The CTS Chemist will attend on-site activities, assuring customer satisfaction and providing critical feedback to the team for the necessary product improvements based on field test results.  The candidate will support the development of a reliable and robust portfolio of quality control tools, and high-speed sensors in an industrial in-line environment.  The CTS Chemist will work with our research & development and manufacturing teams across the lifecycle of existing and new sensor products to ensure that all devices satisfy the end user requirements.  The candidate will also work on the characterization, customization, and support of the full portfolio of quality control tools and sensors.  The successful candidate will develop a comprehension of the technology, from the starting materials to the end application, with the goal of ensuring that all customer requirements are satisfied.

  • Attending and supporting field tests of in-house developed sensors and quality control tools.
  • Compiling, documenting, and sharing critical observations from field testing with management, design, and manufacturing teams.
  • Statistical analysis of data to provide technical recommendations on device setting for respective customers.
  • Supporting tools developed for in-house chemical measurements for R&D and production functions.
  • Understanding customer requirements and helping to ensure execution against those requirements from the design phase through deployment.
  • Collaboratively working with design engineering and manufacturing to help customize and test prototype sensors to help ensure that all customer requirements are being met.
  • Conducting experiments using product prototypes with the objective of identifying design flaws that impact areas such as measurement results, product capability, and product robustness.
  • Assisting with the industrialization of our products, including its quality, performance, usability, reliability, lifespan, and serviceability.
  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of product technical documentation such as installation guides and user manuals.

Salary

$75,000 - $80,000

Relocation is available but prefer local

Job Requirements

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS degree in Sciences field with 2-4 years’ post-degree experience in a scientific or related technological field is a minimum requirement.
  • Skills in mathematics and statistics are desired; a working knowledge of chemistry is a plus.
  • Familiarity with field deployment of products for end-application testing, qualification, and deployment is desired.
  • Experience with gauge study test methods, and analysis of reliability data is desired.
  • Strong skills in hands-on troubleshooting and data analysis are desired.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Must be able to support travel to domestic and international customer locations up to 50% during critical phases such as initial installation.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Able to perform data analysis, compile those results, and effectively present findings to other group functions.
