Director of Culinary

The Culinary Director is responsible for providing leadership to help identify, prioritize and implement effective product offering strategies and tactics to profitable growth and overall business success.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for coordinating and managing the company’s world-wide culinary resources to create a global innovation team for concept development, sharing and application across all company markets.
  • Provide Development & Applications Chefs with direction and prioritization of workload.
  • Coordinate the work of the Culinary Team.
  • Demonstrate significant innovation/creativity and creation of gold standard recipes.
  • Plan and/or conduct product demonstrations and execution of new concepts – internally, for customers and at trade shows.
  • Manage culinary product development and the daily operations of the culinary center.
  • Understand the company product line and processing limitations.
  • Build and strengthen customer relationship through accompaniment of sales manager / scientists on customer calls.
  • Attain a practical, working knowledge of the standard processes utilized by company’s customers’ methodologies and equipment.
  • Extend culinary support to marketing, sales and all areas of R&D and provide a link between culinary and marketing.
  • Communicate and interact with external customers and network with Research Chefs and preferred chefs who influence the product development activities of foodservice & food processing customers.
  • Keep abreast of culinary trends, practices, and techniques through conferences, trade shows and continuing education and be involved with extracurricular activities to maintain or improve miscellaneous responsibilities within the laboratory (conducting training sessions for R&D personnel).
  • Administer employee appraisals and salary reviews and provide employees with feedback.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as needed.

Salary:

$135,000 - $175,000

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum of a BS degree in Culinary Arts.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of culinary experience in a food service or food processing environment.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal & organizational skills.
  • General knowledge of Adobe applications, MS Office and Lotus Notes.
  • Manufacturing experience a must.
  • Great deal of customer presentations and interacting with customers and developing new business.
