Director of Regulatory Affairs
As the Director of Regulatory Affairs, you will be responsible for overseeing all regulatory operations within our manufacturing facility. You will play a critical role in ensuring our products meet regulatory standards, respond to customer inquiries, and stay abreast of evolving regulations in the national marketplace.
This position requires expertise in flavor and fragrance regulations, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Essential Responsibilities:
Regulatory Operations Management
- Oversee all regulatory operations, including scheduling duties for personnel and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and standards
- Manage and respond to customer and sales requests for regulatory information, including allergen, sensitizer, GMO, GRAS, vegetarian, vegan, COOL, EFFA, IRFA, SCCNFP statements, and more
- Develop and oversee label statements in accordance with 21CFR for finished goods
- Expertise in Kosher, Nutritional, Country of Original, and Halal certifications, Trade Agreements (FTA), Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and related geographic regional trade activities (APAC, EMEA, LATAM, NA)
- Knowledgeable in hazard analysis, risk assessments and food safety concepts
- Demonstrative understanding of Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated Final Rules
Data Management
- Maintain the database used for regulatory purposes, including raw and finished goods data
- Manage the raw materials process
- Develop and implement new procedures to address future regulatory compliance issues
Regulatory Compliance
- Keep the company updated on new regulations affecting the flavors and fragrance industry
- Manage responses to new regulations and ensure the company’s continued compliance
Raw Materials and Formulas
- Oversee the raw materials process and documentation
- Participate in the management of formulas and assist with programs such as TBB, drawbacks, Kosher, Halal, and Organic
Interdepartmental Collaboration
- Foster effective working relationships with other departments
- Establish efficient communication links with internal and external customers
Safety Leadership
- Demonstrate leadership in safety practices, ensuring the enforcement of safety rules and encouraging safe work behaviors
- Promptly correct unsafe conditions and behaviors

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- BS, MS, PhD in food science, chemistry, microbiology or similar
- Experience with Microsoft D365 and Product Vision
- Minimum of five years of proven performance in regulatory compliance within the food, flavor, or fragrance industries
- In-depth experience in Regulatory Affairs in the food, flavor, or fragrance sectors
- Comprehensive understanding of industry regulations and acronyms, including GMP, Kosher, Halal, NOP, Allergens, labeling, TTB, IFRA, REACH, CAS number, Prop.65, and 484
- Strong people management skills and leadership abilities
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Highly analytical, with the ability to conduct advanced analyses independently
- Self-motivated, proactive team player with a strong work ethic
- Daily interaction with all levels of the team, including senior management
- Understanding of FDA, USDA, and State Food Safety/Quality regulations
- Ability to work with Customer & Regulatory Agencies
- Export abilities and decision making in Food Safety, Regulatory, and QS application within food processing
- Excellent critical thinking and project management skills
- Ability to present information to the business and or public in a professional, concise manner
- Ability to successfully lead teams to enable them to effectively perform
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with facilities, regulatory agencies, and customers
- Ability to understand issues in relation to product manufacturing operations and their impact
- Ability to effectively organize, coordinate and execute
- Ability to help develop and/or execute strategic plans to meet departmental and organizational goals while complying with regulatory and customer requirements
