Rapidly growing chemical company looking for a Director of R+D to join their organization! DUTIES:
Leads research and development of new products, and support of current (legacy) products. Ensures alignment between technology development and the business goals of the company. Provides liaison between the external technical and academic contacts and the company’s operations and commercial teams.
- Engages with tier-one materials suppliers, OEMs, and other consumers of semiconductors materials and advanced materials to align the company’s technological development with industry requirements for new materials.
- Engages with academics, national laboratories, and industry consortia to align company’s technology goals with industry relevant focus areas including development of sustainable and environmentally friendly new products and processes.
- Responsible for management and operations of the R&D laboratory and pilot plant area in the PA facility.
- Leads and manages the R&D team in the development of new materials and support of existing/legacy products and processes. Includes development of gram scale synthesis of new molecules, development of scalable processes, and scale-up to commercial volume.
- Develops new process methodology for purification and analysis of semiconductor materials including etching and chamber cleaning gases, deposition precursors, and other advanced materials.
- Lead the transition of these methodologies from R&D to operations on a commercial scale.
- Development of improved process chemistry and process control including related metrology to ensure a robust process is ultimately delivered to operations at commercial scale.
- Remains current with industry relevant patent and scientific literature.
- Attends relevant technical conferences to represent the company and to give technical presentations.

Salary
$160,000 - $190,000

Job Requirements
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D. in chemistry or materials science
- Twenty years of experience in the semiconductor materials supply and/or specialty gas industry.
- Significant amount of experience in materials research and development
- Proven leadership skills
- A successful track record of product development
- Ability to manage complex projects and teams as well as deep understanding of materials properties, manufacturing techniques, and testing methodologies.
- Analytical – Synthesizes complex or diverse information; Collects and researches data; Uses intuition and experience to complement data; Designs workflows and procedures.
- Should have demonstrated the ability to synthesize and purify group III, IV and V chemistries, including silicon, boron and phosphorous chemistries.
- R&D experience with fluorocarbons chemistry will be highly desirable.
- Experience: should span from gram scale to multi-kilogram scale process development.
- Expertise around providing technical support to the internal or external engineering teams during the scale-up of these processes to commercial scale.
- Computer skills required: Familiarity with Microsoft Office; ChemDraw, and CAS-SciFinder.
