EHS & Sustainability Specialist
Global organization looking for an EHS & Sustainability professional with manufacturing experience to join a business unit with novel innovation bettering the lives of their customers.
You Will:
- Support annual and long-term plans in compliance with corporate requirements, relevant laws, and regulations and company SHE and Sustainability strategy
- Implement defined parts of the company SHE and Sustainability strategy
- Support implementation and maintenance of company SHE requirements and company Sustainability initiatives
Responsibilities:
- Conduct risk assessments as required on processes and tasks to quantify risk and recommend risk reduction measures to intended audience (i.e., production, maintenance, etc.)
- Support environments compliance by managing waste disposal process, air emissions, inventory, annual chemical / environmental reporting (Tier 2, TRI)
- Acts as technical expert on sustainability initiatives such as product stewardship, new material evaluations, waste minimization efforts to ensure compliance with global chemical regulations
- Assists in maintaining Management of Change process, including review of changes for SHE implication, specifically as it relates to hazardous materials, chemical processes and sustainability initiatives
- Acts as technical expert related to hazardous materials management supporting cradle to grave management of hazardous materials, such as shipping onsite management and disposal
- Advise on wide-ranging scope of SHE issues, including regulatory compliance review to ensure compliance with local, state, federal and international regulations
- Supports Emergency Response Plan with participation and assistance with training activities. Develops and conducts drills and resolves identified gaps
- Audits for compliance with SHE requirements and progress of implementation of SHE Plan
- Ability to either take the lead or participate in incident investigations and the judgment to make the correct decision based on each situation. Lead participants through site Root Cause Analysis methodology to arrive at sound cause and solutions to incidents.
- Assist in determining departmental and personal SHE goals to further site viability and ensure safe and sustainable work environment

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or SHE discipline required. Master’s Degree preferred
- Minimum of 8 years in various SHE-related functions
- Minimum of 5 years manufacturing-related SHE responsibilities including management of hazardous materials
- Industry certifications strongly preferred (CSP, CHMM, DOT); strong knowledge of universally accepted SHE practices
- Good knowledge of US OSHA regulations as they relate to general industry, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, European Union (EU) regulations, US Environmental Protection Agency, (EPA)
- Good knowledge of International Chemical Regulations (TSCA, GHS, REACH) regulations is desired; previous experience in Hazardous Materials Management (DOT, RCRA)
- Must have advanced computing skills in Microsoft Programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
