EHS Manager

Global industry leading organization looking for an EHS Manager to lead a team of EHS professionals in an innovative manufacturing facility.

Provide leadership in initiating, developing and implementing SHE strategies and programs to align with the company SHE plans and requirements.  Ensures SHE compliance and awareness of site employees.  Supports SHE professional to fulfill SHE goals for the site.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, organize, and conduct SHE-related programs, including confined space, work permit, incident investigation, root cause, LOTTO, etc. as required by OSHA, EPA, and company SHE Requirements
  • Ensure compliance for applicable regulations that apply to the site (OSHA, EPA, DOT, Township, etc.). Track new regulatory developments to prepare site for proposed regulations and potential implementation costs.  Work with Sr. Manager, SHE and Security to provide input into new company requirements
  • Develop and support Health processes including performing Health Risk Assessments, IH planning and monitoring and development of related programs (Hearing Conservation and Respiratory Protection). Identify and resolve potential ergonomic issues including assessments and installation of new equipment
  • Assist Site Operations Director to develop the site SHE Plan. Coordinate the execution of SHE plan
  • Update and maintain site Emergency Response Plan. Perform the duties required of the Incident Commander.  Participate and assist with training activities.  Develops and conducts drills and resolves identified gaps.  Lead the First Aid Team.  Coordinate any CSE rescue operations as needed
  • Maintains Hazard Communication program and associated SDS sheets. Communicate to all site employees the location and information contained in the SDS.  Review any new SDS prior to chemical / material being brought on site
  • Plan and participate in SHE audits, including corporate level audits and manage progress and implementation of SHE plan to assure complete compliance with company requirements
  • Chairman of the site SHE Committee. Maintain membership of the committee and identify training needs for committee members
  • Ability to either take the lead or participate in incident investigations and the judgment to make the correct decision based on each situation. Lead participants through site Root Cause Failure Analysis methodology to arrive at sound causes and solutions to incidents.
  • Support site SHE training. Ensure required SHE training is organized and appropriate site personnel are identified.  Participate as an instructor in company training courses, as requested
  • Assist in determining departmental and personal SHE goals to further site viability and ensure safe work environment
  • Involvement in setting up & reviewing SHE requirements, procedures, and instructions by participating in SHE culture on site

Job Requirements

Technical Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or SHE discipline required, advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years in various SHE-related functions
  • Minimum of 5 years manufacturing-related SHE responsibilities – focusing on process safety
  • Must be capable of creating and communicating SHE information to diverse audiences
  • Knowledge of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, European Union (EU) regulations, US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations is desired; good knowledge of US OSHA regulations as they relate to general industry
  • Must have advanced computing skills in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and an introduction to Microsoft Visio and Access or similar
