EHS Manager

THE EHS Manager (with primary focus on health and safety) provides technical support for the continuous development and implementation of company’s Safety and Environmental programs.

  • Develop, implement, monitor and support site EHS policies / programs / procedures to protect the health and safety of employees, and the environment
  • Provide regular support to maintain compliance with applicable EHS legislation, permits and standards
  • Work with management and others on the investigation of incidents, including “near-misses” to identify root causes and the appropriate management / mitigation of hazards
  • Ensure proper reporting of incidents, and manage Incident Investigation Reports
  • Manage programs and supplies
  • Maintain internal communications, and assist with external communications, including corporate reporting of EHS matters
  • Work with others to address audit findings / inspections from third parties, management walk-throughs and regulators
  • Develop and maintain action plans to address EHS matters, including capital expenditure requests to ensure EHS matters are properly considered and addressed
  • Maintain and share incident / accident reporting and statistics
  • Oversee environmental programs / procedures and reporting, including hazardous waste, regulatory reporting, SWPPP, air permit requirements and air and wastewater discharges
  • Manage training programs and activities, including documentation and tracking of completion rates, assignment matrixes as well as arranging for supplemental activities as necessary
  • Provide EHS training for new employees as part of the on-boarding process
  • Review industrial hygiene results and assist facilities in addressing exposure issues
  • Keep apprised of developments and proposals in federal and state safety laws likely to affect the company
  • To ensure efficiency, participate in cost-control efforts, manufacturing improvement committees, and the like
  • Conduct safety training such as forklift, respirator fit-tests and the like
  • Maintain weekly / monthly safety training documentation
  • Conduct department safety inspections on a routine basis, including regular / daily walkarounds
  • Provide monthly / quarterly reports to management
  • Perform safety and environmental audits and inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and address potential hazards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years professional health, safety and environmental experience in manufacturing industry. Preferably within an equipment assembly environment
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency with Spanish a plus
  • Confident self-starter who is able to work both alone and as part of several teams
  • Ability to build trust and confidence across all levels of the organization
  • Strategic thinking and leadership skills
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable regulations and standards (OSHA, NFPA)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
