Job Description

Our client is a manufacturer of specialty engineering materials used in multiple different industries. They currently seek an Engineering Manager for their plant in Toledo, OH. The ideal candidate should enjoy being out in the plant and getting involved in the technical aspects of the process. This person should be a strong leader that enjoys developing their team and mentoring young engineers.

Engineering Manager/Chemical Engineer/Engineering/Manufacturing/Chemicals/Mechanical Engineer/PSM/Operations

As an Engineering Manager job duties include, but are not limited to, the following

The Engineering Manager will manage the maintenance department, manage capital project spending and manage capital projects, and manage the Safety/PSM program for the plant.

 Capital Project Management:

  • Assist the Plant Manager in the preparation of capital Investment Request by first determining the best equipment design and/or facility layout, develop specifications, bid drawings, and ensure that the project meets all environmental, safety, production and maintenance requirements
  • Upon project approval, purchase and expedite materials, equipment, and services
  • Ensure that projects are implemented according to the specification in a safe and timely manner with a minimum disruption to plant activities

 Manage Maintenance Department:

  • Assign, direct, and evaluate the work of the Maintenance Dept
  • Assure all KPI’s are met consistently
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence
  • Ensure maintenance employees are trained, understand/stay engaged in all plant safety systems, processes, and initiatives
  • Manage maintenance repairs, employee workload, work order system, & spare parts inventory
  • Actively maintain equipment performance statistics including mean time between failures and creating, managing, and implementing preventative and predictive maintenance plans
  • Engage PMC-2000 as the tool for assisting the management of the maintenance/preventative maintenance program
  • Maintain Mechanical Integrity program

 Safety/PSM:

  • Responsible/accountable for execution and compliance of the PSM process at the site
  • Input on Safety Modifications to the plant systems

Job Requirements

As an Engineering Manager job requirements consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • B.S. in Engineering – Mechanical or Chemical preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in plant maintenance/engineering/project engineering experience
  • Ability to diagnose equipment breakdowns, design preventative & predictive maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods
  • Capital project management, including sourcing and procurement
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local building codes. Work requires advanced math skills, special relationship abilities, and the ability to understand abstract principles. 
  • Working knowledge of CAD tools.
  • Knowledge of process control systems such as DeltaV, PLC, or DCS
  • Familiarity with process plant operations & equipment
  • Full understanding of the Management of Change process
  • Project estimation and execution experience
  • Thorough knowledge of CMMC (Computerized Maintenance programs) electronic maintenance management systems such as PMC 2000
  • Knowledge of Office software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, PMC)
