Entry Level Analytical Chemist

Have you recently finished your BS in Chemistry or maybe your MS?  This is an exciting fast paced analytical lab working in polymer analysis.  If you’ve learned DSC, DMA, GPC, GC/MS, ICP, FTIR and done wet chemical testing, this could be an exciting opportunity for you!  Learn from the best in the group!!!!

The primary purpose of the Chemist is to conduct high quality analytical lab work that is needed for development, commercialization, industrialization, troubleshooting or products for sale.

Major Processes include the following (other duties may be assigned)

  • Analysis of routine and non-routine R&D, customer, and plant samples
  • Contribute to analytical method development and improvement
  • Log samples in and out
  • Communicate analytical results to internal and external customers
  • Data entry (Excel) and analysis
  • Help with Safety equipment testing, as needed

Laboratory Work

  • Laboratory measurements (titration, pH, viscosity, acid value, hydroxyl value, etc.)
  • Perform instrumental analyses as needed, including GC, GC/MS, GPC, IR, DSC, DMA, ICP etc.
  • Cross functional team skills
  • Good laboratory notebook practice

Presentations & Reports

  • Write lab reports

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform all lab work in a manner that ensures personal and co-worker safety. Lab work to be conducted per company Chemical Hygiene Plan
  • Maintain housekeeping in individual and shared work areas
  • Maintain lab equipment through preventative maintenance, verification, and calibration. Report any equipment malfunctions
  • Train less experienced staff

Job Requirements

Technical Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a BS in Chemistry or related science
  • 1-3 years’ experience with composites preferred
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize work effectively
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Critical and analytical
