Environmental Engineer

Hiring an Environmental Engineer to join our team in Texas supporting the Pipelines and Terminals Operations group.  The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting compliance with Environmental programs for fuels terminals, pipelines, and other managed assets located throughout Texas.

Seeking someone who can proactively develop relationships with regulatory agencies while providing quality service to our internal business partners and stakeholders.  The ideal candidate must be able to embrace and lead chance, possess strong interpersonal skills and efficiently balance multiple priorities.  The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of audiences.  The successful candidate must also be self-directed, lead by example, be self-motivated, possess strong analytical skills, exhibit sound decision-making, and proficient organizational skills.

This role includes a flexible scheduling option (9/80 schedule).  We are open to some remote flexibility once aptitude and capability are demonstrated, with the expectation that at least 50% of your work time is in the workplace.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Apply subject matter expertise and excellent communication skills to help operation and project management capabilities identify and meet environmental compliance requirements and drive environmental excellence through continuous improvement
  • Assist with day-to-day environmental compliance requirements found in permits, plans, and applicable regulations. This may include collecting data and preparing regulatory reports, including air emission inventories, waste reports, stormwater / wastewater DMR’s, and TRI reports
  • Working directly with air compliance, including management of Federally Enforceable State Operating Permits, New Source Review Permits, Construction Permits, and Permit-by-Rule (PBR)
  • Support Waste Management Compliance, including hazardous waste accumulation, profiling, disposal, annual reporting and proactively drive opportunities for waste minimization and beneficial use
  • Clean Water Act Section 401/401 Permitting/Compliance, Construction Stormwater and SWPPP Preparation per NPDES requirements
  • Supporting Emergency Response Compliance, including maintaining SPCC plans and associated requirements, participating in emergency response drills and having on-call availability
  • Keeping track of EPCRA Compliance, including management of new chemical reporting, annual Tier Two Reporting and annual Toxic Chemical Release (TRI) reporting
  • Participate in self-assessments to verify compliance system effectiveness
  • Participate in environmental reviews as part of the Management of Change process and develop and implement effective environmental training

Job Requirements

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical or Civil Engineering; Environmental Science or a related discipline
  • Experience with environmental compliance and permitting in a manufacturing / industrial facility

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Three (3) or more years of experience with environmental compliance and permitting in a manufacturing / industrial facility
  • Experience in the petroleum industry
  • Experience in the pipeline industry
  • Experience managing / coordinating project teams and supporting staff
  • An ability to innovate and transform current work processes and practices
