FSQA Plant Manager

The FSQA Manager needs to be in the driver’s seat for working as the “boots on the ground” plant quality manager.  Daily objectives of ensuring food safety is adhered to and being mindful of continuous improvement for quality and sanitation programs at company.

This position will need a “roll up your sleeves” attitude and know your feedback and implementation of quality metrics will help lay the groundwork for a young organization.

The FSQA Manager will communicate cross-functionally with owners, plant manager, production, R&D, and sales to discuss quality metrics.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Support current and help develop food safety, quality, and sanitation programs and ensure compliance for a gluten free production facility
  • Ensure delivery of safe, quality products in a sustainable manner and with minimization of risk to the manufacturing facility and organization
  • Perform food safety and quality assessments for review of manufacturing standards, HACCP/FSMA Food Safety Plans, Food Quality Plans, and sanitation programs
  • Review and anticipate potential and emerging food safety, quality and regulatory issues and develop strategies to effectively investigate and respond
  • Facilitate the investigation and resolution of escalated plant issues including quality holds, priority consumer complaints, and FDA/USDA regulatory matters
  • Provide risk management strategies in support of manufacturing facility innovation, commercialization and productivity projects
  • Ensure food safety and quality individual and departmental capabilities including hiring and on-boarding, trainings, and other growth and development opportunities
  • Effectively manage pest control programs
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Prepare and ensure adherence to the QA department annual operating budget

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience supervising plant quality assurance programs, and/or working with corporate quality assurance programs for manufacturing
  • Experience in HACCP, SQF, organic, kosher, FSMA Food Safety Plan
  • Experience with food manufacturing regulations required
  • Demonstrated “hands-on” management experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate throughout all levels of the organization
  • Strategic leadership skills
  • Ability to train, coach and mentor staff
  • Ability to effectively influence seniors, peers, and subordinates
  • Auditing skills
  • Ability to use innovation approaches to resolve complex problems
  • Strong computer skills, including a proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Ability to work under pressure and to react to situations with a strong sense of urgency
  • Solid problem solving, project management, multi-tasking and prioritization skills
  • Ability to listen and consider all ideas while working in a team environment
  • Ability to develop a high performing team
