Flavor Applications Scientist

Given the tremendous potential of company, the company’s senior leadership is seeking to recruit a Flavor Applications Scientist to help accelerate the expansion of the company’s innovation pipeline and key development research.

The Flavor Application Scientist will report to Senior Development and Innovation and will work closely with his/her counterparts around the globe.  This position will focus on product development of new flavor innovation systems, screening compounds for specific uses, and reporting this information in a relevant manner to internal and external teams.  Furthermore, he/she will assist in establishment of a long-term strategic innovation pipeline with an operating structure and evaluation protocols that lead to new viable launch platforms.  This position will be a key driver in rapidly expanding company’s technical knowhow and solidifying the company’s first-to-market advantage and superior all-natural products.

The ideal profile sought is an individual with experience in the food industry who brings an understanding of new innovation flavor technology, a self-starter mentality, and be capable of implementing big company disciplines into a rapid-growth business.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, document, screen, and present findings on key innovation systems being investigated
  • Assist in establishment of a long-term strategic innovation pipeline with an operating structure and evaluation protocols that lead to new viable launch platforms
  • Manage his/her tasks with highly professional systems and processes, designed to accommodate rapid growth
  • Partner with cross functional team members to identify and position new ingredients
  • Help foster an overall environment of teamwork and participation across team

Requirements:

  • BS or MS in Food Science or related
  • A research scientist professional with 2-5+ years of experience in the food & beverage food ingredients’ research (flavors or specialties) or F&B companies’ R&D department (ingredient technology / research preferred), with solid track record of product development and/or base research
  • Ideally, this person will have knowledge of flavors and ability to foster relationships with key internal partners
  • An understanding of R&D processes, as well as experience in ingredient research is key. Hands on product development, sensory, statistics, and chemistry experience and willing to work in a laboratory are highly desired and expected
  • Knowledge of R&D and Marketing interactions is certainly a key advantage
