Global Director of R&D – Resins
Bring your Strategic and Tactical R&D Leadership experience in resin development to a growing business unit of a Global Company creating exciting technologies in multiple market spaces for Automotives, Building and Construction, and Engineering Plastics. This High-Profile Role will direct 20 technical R&D Staff and Manage the Global portfolio of Technology, leveraging new applications development, IP Management, and work closely with the Executive Team.
We are searching for a Global R&D Director – PMMA, a technology and innovation leader, that will report to the VP of Innovation for Engineered Materials and Sustainable Business. The Director will be part of the global PMMA leadership team and will drive the innovation strategy and execution.
Leader of Technology Team: Scientists, TS&D, and the Lab Operations Team
- Establish, manage and execute the global PMMA Technology and portfolio strategy
- Build and lead strong teams of Scientists & Engineers with expertise in PMMA resins
- Global coordination of TSD projects & customers, partnership and co-developments
- Develop new applications in collaboration with R&D
- Member of Global Technology & innovation, PMMA Resins Leadership Team, and Plastics Intellectual Capital Management Team (ICMT)
- Support the transition of operations from current site within local region
- Contribute to the New Business Development and strategy
- Management of Strategic Projects and PMMA Resins Portfolio
- New project identification, initiation, execution and linking projects to overall business strategic direction and platforms
- PMMS is a multiple markets and technologies activity, which must grow with revamped Portfolio to ensure market leadership & technical knowledge
- Demands of the Business Units can often conflict with each other for resources, both for the engineers & laboratory. Maintain the fine balance to keep delivering to business results with a finite number of resources is a constant challenge
- Business Impact: Development and maintenance of products in Automotive & Transportation, Lighting, Building & Construction, Medical, Cosmetics, Consumer, Adhesives, and consumer electronics
- IP Focal Point for PMMA resins – Main contributor to the IP strategic portfolio for PMMA
- Budgetary responsibilities

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- Tech Manager or Director level experience
- Requires a PhD, or Masters degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Polymer Science, Material Sciences or other relevant degree
- 15 years of expertise in Plastics/Polymers, Resins or similarly adjacent material science
- 5 years of Director level experience, leading teams in a cross-collaborative environment, leading strategy and budget responsibility
- Fabrication Processing knowledge
- Application Development knowledge
- Material Knowledge via Polymer Science
- Polymer Synthesis knowledge
- Knowledge of influence of Additives / Fillers
- Sustainable technologies: recycling and other
- Polymer Characterization
