Quality Control Manager

Must be US Citizen or Green Card to be considered for candidacy for this position.

The key duties and responsibilities of the Quality Control Manager to include:

  • Direct all aspects of Quality Control, including analytical, microbiological, and sensory (organoleptic) testing activities.
  • Authorize the release of incoming materials and finished products, ensuring they meet defined specifications and timelines.
  • Create and track KPIs to evaluate QC performance, productivity, and overall effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and enhance sensory evaluation programs, ensuring proper training, alignment, and consistency among panelists.
  • Build and develop the QC team through hiring, training, coaching, and performance management; maintain a skills matrix for development and role definition.
  • Plan and adjust staffing, shift coverage, and scheduling to support operational and production requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable quality and regulatory standards, including cGMP, GLP, HACCP, SQF, FDA, USDA, and customer-specific requirements. Participate in and support internal reviews, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Oversee the creation, upkeep, and accuracy of QC documentation, including SOPs, validations, deviations, change management, and CAPAs.
  • Drive investigations into quality issues such as non-conforming materials and out-of-specification results, utilizing root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Lead the response to customer complaints, including technical assessments and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure proper management of laboratory equipment, including maintenance, calibration, qualification, and external service coordination.
  • Interpret quality data and trends to identify improvement opportunities, mitigate risks, and provide insights to leadership.
  • Champion workplace safety initiatives and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety standards.

Salary

$95,000 - $120,000

Requirements / Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, or related scientific discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 4-8 years of experience in quality control or analytical laboratory work within food, flavor, beverage, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
  • A minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role within a laboratory setting.
  • Solid understanding of FDA, USDA, and applicable food safety regulations.
  • Experience working in a GFSI- or SQF-certified facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, including coaching, mentoring, and managing performance.
  • Strong analytical thinking with proven skills in problem-solving, root cause investigation, and organization.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Comfortable working with laboratory systems, maintaining documentation, and using standard computer software.
