Associate Beverage Scientist
Job Description
We are seeking an Associate Beverage Scientist to join our customer’s Flavors R&D team. In this role, you will develop, test, and optimize flavors for a wide variety of beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop, test, and optimize flavor systems for beverages such as carbonated drinks, juices, plant-based beverages, RTD cocktails, alcoholic beverages, energy drinks, and more
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, marketing, sensory, and flavor creation to support customer projects and internal development initiatives
· Assist with flavor selection and application in line with customer briefs, market trends, and regulatory requirements
· Prepare samples for customer presentations and innovation showcases
· Maintain detailed records of formulations and testing in laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
· Stay informed on industry trends, ingredients, and processing technologies
· Ensure laboratory safety, cleanliness, and compliance with regulatory standards

Job Requirements
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in food science, Chemistry, or a related field
· 0–3 years of experience in beverage formulation, product development, or flavor applications lab (including internships/co-ops)
· Understanding of beverage formulation basics, including emulsions, acidulants, sweeteners, and functional ingredients
· Familiarity with analytical tools such as pH meters, refractometers, and titratable acidity
· Sensory acuity and ability to describe flavor performance
· Strong organizational, mathematical, and communication skills
· Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities
· Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with alcoholic beverage formulation or knowledge of TTB regulations
· Experience with Genesis R&D, Excel, or LIMS
· Knowledge of ISO 9001, cGMP, and GLP standards
· Experience with lab safety audits and regulatory documentation
· Proficiency in laboratory data entry and general computer skills
· Ability to occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds or more
· Comfort performing repetitive tasks and precise equipment adjustments
· Ability to work in environments with moderate noise and exposure to chemicals
