Lithium Ion Battery Scientist
This is an exciting customer facing role working in the development of materials used in LIB, you’ll lead projects, work with customers, create new products to meet high performance targets for customers, and support Sales, Manufacturing, and internal resources. Duties & Responsibilities:
Identification of new product opportunities. Design and development of new products:
- Coordination with various stakeholders to identify new opportunities for product development
- Design appropriate lab studies
- Batch area / scale up work
- Production plant trials – coordination and lead
- Interpret data and present results and reports – time allocation 50%
Technical information gathering and external engagement:
- Attend relevant conferences
- University / research center engagement
- Customer technical team engagement – time allocation 15%
Product development pipeline and project management:
- Coordination with sales, marketing and manufacturing functions
- Developing pipeline documentation
- Stage gate progression management – time allocation – 15%
Develop, maintain, and disseminate fundamental knowledge of Lithium Ion battery raw materials:
- Develop understandings of structure-property relationships for key material performance through fundamental and applied research studies
- Develop white papers, conference presentations, blogs and technical training resources
- Deliver internal and external technical training
- Support marketing and sales functions as required with technical consultations – time allocation – 20%

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- PhD with 2-5 or more years of experience or Master’s degree with 7 or more years of experience in development of Graphite (Conductive) materials used in Batteries, or applications work in raw materials for Lithium Ion Battery
- Knowledge of material processing and testing in finished Lithium Ion Batteries
- Strong Electrochemistry experience required
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to conceive, plan, execute and interpret experiments independently
- Ability to innovate & develop new techniques and theories
- Ability to evaluate projects throughout development life cycle and accelerate or kill as needed
- Ability to collaborate and work across geographies and functional divisions
- Stage Gate experience, DFSS, or a Six Sigma Green Belt
