Manager, National Account – West Coast - Flavors

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing western territory of national customer accounts for company Starches.  This position is also responsible for prospecting and growing of new and existing customers.  In addition, the position with promote company’s growing industrial capabilities to customers and represent company at industry meetings and tradeshows.  Essential responsibilities to include:

  • Work closely with their customer facing organization to develop and implement differentiated value propositions for their customers
  • Be recognized customer expert and key point of contact for starches
  • Recommends Specialty “value-added” solutions to national and regional account customers, including but not limited to, effective introduction of new products, technologies, and processes, to strengthen and obtain new business in support of segment growth targets and account plants
  • Continually draws insights on customer needs and seeks opportunities to translate these into actionable plans and new sales development. Develops and maintains a strong working knowledge of the markets and competitive landscape
  • Develop targeted customer lists in collaboration with Technical Service, Emerging Sales and Research teams
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date ‘fact-based’ customer development plans
  • Analyze marketing insights to unlock opportunities for future account growth
  • Active use and implementation of CRM Tool (Salesforce.com)
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships within Sweeteners, Starches and Acidulants and other company Business Units
  • Wholly responsible for contracting activities
  • Ultimately responsible for effective management of cost levers (knowing the cost to serve) and in assisting in the timely collection of account receivables

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Marketing, Business or related field is preferred or a minimum of five years’ sales and marketing experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with specific competency in account planning and goal setting
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of Salesforce.com and Microsoft software including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Travel – overnight travel is required (40% minimum)
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Proven service and customer focus with ability to build and maintain customer relationships / partnerships with management, R&D, purchasing, marketing and plant product staff
