Open Innovation Business Manager - Electronics

The Open Innovation Business Manager - Electronics will support the application / business development efforts for 3D electronic applications.  This position requires a creative, hands-on and self-directed individual with the ability to adapt their engineering / material science knowledge to the field of electronics assembly.  Typical development activities will take place in the lab and in the field with customers and partners.  Provides direct customer technical assistance, which may include testing and analysis, problem solving, fieldwork, process optimization, education or demonstrations.  Accountable for application development and implementation of company 3D Electronics.  Provides technical support directly to the marketplace.

Support new business development efforts in 3D Electronics

  • Identify market application potential
  • Leads technical development
  • Product use knowledge
  • Exhibits a deep understanding of the 3D electronics market technical requirements and solutions
  • Develops new technologies and formulations to adapt their current products to new applications for 3D Dental Market
  • As a subject matter expert applies fundamental knowledge to relate how process and material characteristics influence performance properties on the finished products
  • Identify and quantify product improvement opportunities
  • Plan industrial trials to produce new materials
  • Establish material formulation and control plan
  • Work with Product Development, Sales and Marketing personnel to develop and replicate high impact applications for Electronics
  • Identify the best 3D company solution for an application by thoroughly understanding the customer need, testing and analyzing results
  • Communicate results to customers through written reports and presentations
  • Build competitive value propositions for effective new product commercialization
  • Provide launch support for new product programs by generating supporting documentation, demonstration tools, videos and training materials
  • Understand and apply regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Build a deep understanding of customer needs and competition in Electronics market focused areas and provide “Voice of Customer” (VOC), new product ideas and competitive analysis
  • Provide hands on customer training to demonstrate proper application techniques and performance advantage of products, including optimization of customer processes
  • Diagnose customer application issues and help solve in an expeditious manner
  • Develops analytical strategies and executes action plans for electronics industry
  • Reports to business management both verbally and in technical reports and presentations
  • Captures and shares results of work in an organized manner to systematically move research forward in a coordinated effort
  • Actively reviews the IP space for relevant projects to identify opportunities
  • Works with management and legal to secure IP property as required

End Use Promotion of 3D Electronics

  • Publishes articles and promotes company at industry events
  • Identifies end users to build partnerships
  • Leads technical development activities
  • Presents at conferences and/or conventions as a subject matter expert
  • Have competency of taking incoming technical requests for immediate response to end users or customers requesting recommendations or general technical assistance
  • Serves as a subject matter expert by providing guidance to various groups such as R&D, Sales, Technical Service, Business Development, Marketing
  • There will be 30-35% travel, mostly in the US but some international travel as well

Requirements:

  • BS degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or related discipline from an accredited university.  MS preferred.
  • 2-7 years' experience formulating in the Microelectronics area
  • Candidates must be a subject matter expert in the microelectronics area
  • Microsoft Office proficient, specifically with Power Point, Excel and other computer communication programs
  • Demonstrated ability to work with customers globally
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and data analysis
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Strong customer focus approach (i.e., Customer Insight, Customer Inspired Innovation)
  • Cross functional effectiveness
  • Must be able to travel up to 30-35%, mostly in the US but some international travel as well
  • Natural ability to influence engineers and/or designers on product performance issues
  • High level of written and oral competency
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to generate short presentation that quickly make a point
  • Demonstrated social skills including arrangement of casual entertainment such as group presentations, small lunches or dinners
  • Ability to organize effective and enjoyable product and process design seminars
  • Ability to reliably assist in the draft of Papers and Articles suitable for publication
  • Demonstrated ability to handle and work with hazardous materials, and to work safely and independently in a chemical laboratory environment
  • Professional level understanding, interpretation and application of theory, concepts, and knowledge in polymer chemistry and structure-property relationships
  • Prior demonstrated success in developing innovative solutions to challenging problems.
  • Expert knowledge of photo-cure chemistries and organic synthesis is a plus
  • Innovative, entrepreneurial and can generate new insights
  • Photo cure chemistry and synthesis strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to self-prioritize and work on multiple tasks
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic, positive attitude, and committed to delivering results
