Organic Synthesis Technician
Established manufacturer is seeking an experienced synthetic organic technician to join their team! Work is highly visible in the organization. Management is focused on helping individuals succeed.
Duties:
The technician will work under the direction of a senior chemist and have responsibilities including:
- Synthesis of new molecules at the laboratory scale with skills including:
- Determination of preferred synthetic routes
- Development of synthetic methodologies
- Lab scale synthetic techniques
- Standard organic purification techniques including chromatography, distillation, and crystallization
- Analysis of reaction products and purity using typical analytical techniques
- Capturing information in a laboratory notebook
- Conducting scale-up evaluations
- Assembling glass and steel reactors
- Participating in R&D projects making a variety of products
- Reviewing and writing experimental methods and technical reports
- Participating on technical teams focused on corporate growth programs
- Developing hands-on and in-depth technical expertise
- Documenting experimental work and writing technical and invention reports
- Working safely and promoting a safe work environment
- Evaluating / developing new technologies and leading efforts to implement them

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- Minimum 4-year Degree in Scientific Field
- 5 years of experience in Organic Synthesis or Process Development
- Completion of the following mandatory chemistry // scientific courses:
- General Chemistry I & Lab
- General Chemistry II & Lab
- Organic Chemistry I & Lab
- Organic Chemistry II & Lab
- Quantitative Analysis
- Formal training in general and organic laboratory procedures
- Experience with typical analytical equipment, including HPLC, GC and NMR
- Problem solving, math and science skills and familiarity with statistical methodology
- Initiative and the ability to work in a team setting. Clear and effective written and oral communication is essential
- General computer experience with relevant Microsoft software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Prior organic synthesis and process development experience is preferred
- Ability to work in a team environment is necessary
- Experience installing and operating laboratory scale pressure rated equipment is a plus
- Should have clear and effective writing and oral communication skills
