Plant Chemist

The Plant Chemist is dedicated to improving current products, investigating complaints, and developing new technologies.  The position requires attention to detail, making lab batches, and analyzing data.  The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of chemistry, formulation and laboratory practices and will be able to mentor more junior chemists in the lab.

  • Developing new technologies to maximize product performance
  • Scaling up new products
  • Developing robust formulas
  • Evaluating raw materials
  • Maintaining product formulas and authorizing adjustments to batches
  • Preparing paint for test decks
  • Keeping records of testing results and reporting progress each month
  • Investigating customer complaints, production issues, and raw material concerns
  • Ensuring adherence to appropriate government regulations / requirements and to company procedures

Requirements:

  • BS or higher in Chemistry
  • 5+ years’ experience formulating thermoset coatings, epoxies, acrylic, UV would translate into this technology, industrial coatings ( water & solvent)
  • Experience working with customers, managing projects
  • Independent, self-driven, wants to go above and beyond
  • Plant support, ability to be liaison between R&D and Manufacturing
  • Willing to be a road warrior as this will travel 30-50%
