Plant Chemist
This Chemist position will serve as the technical advisor for the facility and will have leadership responsibilities. Formulation experience in coatings is required. You will take part in company initiatives focused on quality of products
- Create processes to produce faster and easier by optimizing formulas, reducing raw materials, and reviewing quality processes to ensure all batches come out correctly the first time and meet regulatory requirements
- Supervise and manage two Quality Control Technicians / Tinters to ensure products meet the required customer specifications and keep manufacturing processes moving for timely delivery
- Scale-up and QC duties
- Identify and communicate potential improvements, opportunities for increased efficiency, and necessary equipment purchases

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in the industrial coatings market
- Experience in scale-up, batch corrections, manufacturing support, and QC.
- Must have knowledge in the manufacturing of some of the following coatings including clears and pigmented:
- Solvent based solution acrylic sealers
- 2-part water based and solvent based acrylic urethanes
- 2-part water based and 100% solid epoxies
- 2-part polyaspartic and urethane systems
- Cementitious overlays
- Acrylic emulsion
- Polyurethane dispersion
- Silane and silicone
- Alkyd
- Must have proven familiarity with basic coatings lab equipment including but not limited to: Zahn viscosity cups, Stormer viscometer, gloss meter, fineness of grind gauge, and draw down bars.
