Principal Scientist

Job Description
The company is seeking a talented and experienced Principal Scientist who will play a pivotal role by leveraging their knowledge and expertise in chemistry to advance the quality and performance of roofing products. The candidate will be responsible for conducting advanced scientific research in the field of asphalt, wet-laid glass fibers and spun bond polyester mats.
They will work with cross-functional teams to identify, develop, and implement innovative solutions that enhance key attributes intrinsic to asphalt (adhesion, weathering, thermodynamic) and enable new ones (asphalt/glass adhesion promoters, polymer/asphalt compatibilizer, asphalt polymer crosslinker etc.). The candidate will plan, lead, and execute research activities and will provide timely and accurate testing, data collection and analysis.

- Research and Development: Lead and execute complex scientific research projects in the field of chemistry. The candidate should establish a partnership with toller producers to facilitate chemical manufacturing they developed and concurrently collaborate with the plant for the successful implementation of the chemical.
- Innovation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and develop innovative solutions to develop and improve the quality and performance of roofing products.
- Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret data from experiments and field studies. Be able to outline methodically the breadth and depth of any complex problem.
- Technical Documentation: Document and update as needed in the form of a logbook, discussions, planning and execution on the shared documentation platform. Prepare reports of completed projects for documentation, presentation or for use in further research activities.
- Project Management: Lead 3 to 5 projects simultaneously. Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully, think outside the box and provide alternative solutions, work well in group problem solving situations.

Job Requirements
- A Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, or closely related field.
- A Master’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or a closely related field with 5 years’ experience.
- Able to travel up to 15% of the time.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong leadership, project management, and team collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
- Effective communication skills for presenting research findings and interacting with stakeholders.
- Strong commitment to innovation and intellectual property protection.
