Job Description
My client, a company in the food industry is seeking a Procurement Manager to manage spend of seafood. This person will be responsible for procuring the companies most important raw material on a global basis from countries in Asia, Africa and South America.
Procurement Manager, Seafood – Reporting to the VP of Procurement this position will be responsible for creating strategies and sourcing plans for seafood. This position will have an understanding of the relevant global markets and be able to leverage to achieve best total cost.
- Create and execute sourcing strategies for seafood
- Manage lead times of both farm raises and wild caught seafood in regions such as India, Thailand, Ecuador, Indonesia and China.
- Develop and maintain supply network
- Minimize obsolescence and distressed inventory
- Understand and manage market and industry trends
- Work cross-functionally with R&D, Operations, Sales & Marketing to represent Procurement in process improvement initiatives
The ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- 8+ years of experience sourcing seafood internationally
- Strong network with international suppliers
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to travel 20% internationally
