Product Development Chemist

The Product Development Chemist will be responsible for formulating new products, reformulating existing products, qualifying alternative raw materials, reviewing and/or updating manufacturing procedures, setting up test methods, and laboratory equipment.  This position interacts with Quality, Production, Sales, Customer Service, and Purchasing Departments.  Responsibilities to include:

  • Conduct Research and Development of new products
  • Improve existing products to reduce cost, improve performance, or simplify manufacturing
  • Test competitive products
  • Analyze and approve offsets
  • Develop and validate test methods
  • Conduct research to develop new and improved manufacturing process
  • Prepare samples for customers
  • Maintain SDS for raw materials and chemical database

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year accredited college or university in Chemistry or Bio-Chemistry required
  • 3-5 years’ experience with hard surface cleaning, emulsion technology, regulatory and/or compliance (SDS/GHS), and surfactant expertise
  • Strong independence, there are 3 other chemists in group
  • Effective communication skills, as this person will interface with customers and train on the products
