Product Manager, Dairy Flavors

The Product Manager is responsible for assessing the market and technologies related to a dairy flavor product line.  This includes developing a high level technical understanding of product offerings, defining the product vision, assessing the marketplace for potential, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, and working closely with Research & Development to deliver winning products.  It includes working with Technical, Sales, Marketing, Regulatory and Operations to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met.

*Accountable for identifying market segments for dairy flavors, measuring the purchasing power of these segments, understanding the product performance and features these segments require, evaluating the competitive offerings in these segments, and communicating the requirements of these market segments to Research & Development and Senior Leadership

*Assess company capabilities to determine market fit and determine current and future needs by researching customer needs/wants, industry trends and translating those needs into company R&D

*Responsible to oversee and drive the development associated with the Dairy flavor product line; product profiles and offerings, commercialization, pricing and gross margin, forecasts, R&D, marketing, customer service, legal, production, etc.

*Develop product value proposition, market positioning and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share, sales volume, and profitability

*Provide the sales team with the necessary technical expertise to enable them to sell dairy flavors.  This involves market knowledge and opportrunity awareness, product training, printed and electronic promotional material, etc.

*Responsible for reviewing product data to ensure that the sales force is kept up to date on new developments regarding the industry or competitors' products

*Act as point of first reference internally for all product related inquiries and work collaboratively with colleagues in Research and Development and Regulatory to address any issues that may arise

*Sponsor market research projects to ensure voice of customer and customer attitudes to the current product range and new product introductions

*Assist with the development of the annual marketing plan for dairy flavors targeting advertising, promotion and sales aids in accordance with the annual marketing plan to maintain consistent features and corporate image throughout the product plan

*Responsible for preparing product forecasts, and constantly monitoring inventory levels held at warehouses including liaison with production (locally and globally) to ensure supply timelines

*Represent the company and the product at industry trade shows and conferences, as well as at customer presentations

Requirements:

*5+ years job related experience.  Experience in product management, business development, category marketing and/or sales

*Experience in the ingredient flavor or other related industry required

*In-depth expertise in new product development from conception to market launch to obsolescence

*Management experience directing cross-functional teams to oversee profitability of products (existing and new products

*Budgeting experience expenses and capital requirements for product projects

*Strong product development, strategic planning, marketing, and project management skills

*Outstanding interpersonal skills with ability to influence cross-functional team members, as well as senior management

*Proven leadership abilities and strong presence

*In-depth knowledge of the flavor and food ingredient global marketplace.  Knowledge of dairy related markets desired but not essential

*Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.  Must be able to successfully interface with all levels of the organization.  Above-average presentation skills are required

*Excellent knowledge and usage of Microsoft platform, cross-cultural communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

*Self-starter with high energy level and ability to think and act strategically

*Willingness to travel up to 30%
