Purchasing Agent in Washington Heights, NY

Our client, a growing manufacturer, is seeking a Purchasing Agent to support day-to-day procurement operations in the Washington Heights, NY area. This hands-on role is responsible for purchasing raw materials and supplies, maintaining inventory levels, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring on-time material availability to support production. The ideal candidate has experience in a manufacturing environment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute purchase orders and manage supplier communications for assigned commodities.
• Monitor inventory levels using MRP/ERP systems to maintain material availability while meeting inventory targets.
• Expedite orders, resolve supplier delivery issues, and manage pricing, quantity, and receiving discrepancies.
• Coordinate inbound shipments and select cost-effective transportation methods.
• Support supplier performance, cost savings initiatives, and second-source qualification activities.
• Maintain accurate product and purchasing data within ERP systems.
• Partner with warehouse, accounting, customer service, quality, and R&D teams to support daily operations and product commercialization.
• Assist with supplier documentation, product approvals, and inventory reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
• 2–3 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with MRP/ERP systems and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple departments.

Base salary range: $70-80k
