QC Technician

Global company is seeking a Lab/QC Tech to join their team!  Company funded certifications and training, quarterly and annual bonuses, generous benefits and competitive pay.  Caring team environment led by a collaborative manager!

The QC Technician collects and prepares samples from various process, products, and environmental streams throughout our chemical manufacturing complex.  The QC Technician completes analyses, performs mathematical calculations, and documents and communicates results of analyses.  Analytical chemistry techniques used include wet chemistry, physical property analysis, gas / liquid chromatography, UV-VIS, and IR spectroscopy.  You will report to the Lab Supervisor and belong to a team of 4-6 Technicians that work 12-hour rotating shorts, onsite.

  • Collection and analyses of product, environment, and process stream samples to assist operations, engineering, maintenance, and EHS departments in making decisions and troubleshooting plant processes and equipment
  • Record results into LIMS and report results to applicable team members in defined timeframes
  • Recognize and communicate deviations in analytical results and complete reporting protocols for procedural or analytical non-conformances, off-spec product or process stream anomalies
  • Understand and comply with established procedures designed to support internal controls efforts. Identify and bring to the attention of management internal controls deficiencies
  • Perform calculations and prepare commonly used reagents including from hazardous stock reagents such as concentrated acids, bases, and solvents
  • Troubleshoot and repair laboratory instrumentation
  • Promote the pursuit of safety, regulatory compliance, including proper use of protocols for each job, identifying hazards or incidents, and communicating findings using established procedures

Job Requirements

Technical Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in physical sciences or equivalent experience
  • Years of experience: 2+ years of related professional work experience
  • Schedule Availability: Be able to work 12-hour shifts with schedule rotating between days and nights with overtime (Four 12-hour days, four days off, four 12-hour night, four days off, and repeat).  There will be times this person will need to cover for vacations, and they have times where they work long weeks and hours but then they get rewards/prizes and seventh day pay which is double pay.  Between the rotating shifts and covering shifts they will have 300 hours of overtime in a year
  • Physical: Be able to regularly lift upwards of 50lbs, move compressed gas cylinders, stand for long periods of time, wear a respirator, and ascend/descend stairs and ladders
