Job Description

Quality Assurance Leader (can be Supervisor or Manager)

The essential functions and responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Leader will include:

  • Operate as the plant’s SQF Practitioner and manages all food quality, Kosher and safety programs including HACCP
  • Maintain the company’s Quality/Food Safety training program and performs operator training of Food Safety and Quality procedures and practices
  • Supports CEO with the plant’s Hold and Release program
  • Records and manages results of daily, weekly, and monthly quality checks and audits, tracks trends and keeps CEO informed related to quality concerns
  • Complete routine quality analysis of the company’s food manufacturing process
  • Understands processing specifications, product changeover coordination, and organization in the lab and candy kitchen
  • Reviews HACCP, SOP and SQF paperwork for deviations for takes correct measures
  • Verifies process control practices and compliance, bringing ideas forward for continuance policy and process improvement
  • Maintains Quality Assurance hold accuracy, identifies cause of deviations, and takes corrective actions

Other day to day responsibilities in this role:

  • Collaborates with production to investigate cases of problems, helps develop solutions for product problems and is involved in implementing solutions
  • Inspects materials for product/raw material release
  • Monitors preventative maintenance practices with production overseeing maintenance requests and transfer back to production
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the plant’s sanitation program
  • Develops, implements, and maintains all plant SSOP’s and MSS
  • Test new sanitation methods and chemicals and develop training material for training on sanitation tasks
  • Member of Food Safety Team, Crisis Team, Trace Team, and Recall Team

Job Requirements

Technical Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Non-degree will not be considered.  Preferrable degree in the sciences, but open to other bachelor’s degree types and commensurate with experience
  • 3 plus years in food industry, 2-5 years in leadership role
  • This is an SQF certified facility
  • SQF practitioner required, HACCP certified preferable
  • Prior auditing experience desired with FDA and external and internal auditing meeting co-man client requirements
  • Sanitation practices desirable
