Job Description
Quality Assurance Supervisor
(2nd Shift 1:30 – 11:30 PM)
Be a part of a dynamic food manufacturing company with multiple locations and strong brand recognition. This position is responsible to uphold quality standards, SQF Food Safety and SQF Food Quality certification.
Responsible to provide tactical leadership, coach, mentor, assist, monitor, train, and verify daily activities of plant or shift QA staff and foster a spirit of teamwork.
The candidate must be HACCP certified and have an ability to demonstrate an excellent understanding of SQF, HACCP, GMP, and SSOP. Assures that all quality systems and programs, HACCP, GMP, SSOP, products/processes meet company and customer requirements, USDA, and FDA regulations. Uphold the company’s quality standards, SQF Food Safety and SQF Food Quality certification, and applicable food safety & quality regulatory compliance.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for verifying compliance to Quality Assurance programs & systems, customer expectations, quality initiatives, and food safety parameters for manufacturing areas including meats, bakery, and sauces, Report all food safety/quality issues
- Communicates quality metrics and inspection results in the form of a KPI report to Quality Manager, Corporate QA, or appropriate plant management team assigned
- Assist production teams through risk management assessments and decision-making as plant issues occur
- Assists plant in organization for local, state, customer/third party, and federal audits and inspections
- Conduct GMP, SSOP, internal and external audits including vendor and storage facility approvals as necessary on a frequency prescribed by quality systems or food safety management team
- Investigate and address customer quality complaints, develop action plan to mitigate future issues and track issues. Communicate findings to appropriate management, sales, and customer service associates to ensure customer feedback
- Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective actions on internal process failures and complaints utilizing KPI data and other effective investigation strategies
- Lead / participate in projects or activities that modify or improve quality, food safety, efficiency and regulatory compliance
- Assists plant in minimum annual training of all company employees on food safety and quality requirements
- Verify that 100% of Raw Materials, In-Process and Finished Product not adhering to established standards are contained (HELD) and not used in production or shipped to customers. Maintain HOLD Process / Log
- Verify daily compliance monitoring and effectiveness of formulas control, specification changes, work procedures, HOLD process, traceability, HACCP / Regulatory, and customer requirements
- Verify daily Operations and QA documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned in QA; act as back up to QA Techs and leads as needed; liaise with QA Manager (position backup) on issues

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Food Science, Microbiology / Biology, Chemistry, Public Health Studies or technical discipline, at least 3-5 years related experience in a food manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- HACCP and SQF Practitioner Certification preferred
- Experience in management, including hiring, termination, employee discipline, training / development
- Experienced in developing, training, and implementing quality and food safety initiatives including SQF, HACCP and Sanitation procedures
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, governmental regulations and other related documents
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with abstract and concrete variables
- Effective relationships and experience with regulatory agencies such as FDA, USDA, Halal, & Kosher
