Quality Control Lead

The Quality Control Lead will have the following responsibilities:

Quality Control Supervisor in job duties and functions, managing one of their labs at their flagship location  Will oversee direct reports in the lab for ensuring testing of starch products is timely using exacting methods that provide excellent customer service for critical data information to company's clientele.

*Works with and alongside QC Manager and Plant Manager in support of total quality support.  Supports Marketing, Sales, Tech Services, and Production to ensure all products produced and shipped by the plant meet ISO and GMP standards

*Direct reports:  7 QC technologists

*Assessing the current demands on laboratory services; prioritizing testing based on business needs and departmental goals.  Working with analysts and operations to schedule weekly laboratory support

*Maintaining calibration records and standards traceable to NIST where applicable

*Preparing and standardizing chemical reagents when necessary

*Maintaining and monitoring CRA check sample program.  Coordinating the timely execution of sample orders

*Conducting Out of Specification investigations, monitoring OOS trends, and implementing required corrective action

*Maintaining records to generate Monthly First Pass Compliance reports

*Seeking and implementing processes to continuously improve and optimize laboratory operations and efficiencies.  Sustaining 5S2 by assuring performance of weekly audits and follow ups on corrections

*Revising and developing laboratory SOPs to stay current with scientific developments, customer, and business needs

*Developing and implementing training on new technology and equipment to expand the skill sets of Analysts.  Training laboratory analysts on current GMP's, GLP's, ISO, and standard test methods and procedures.  Maintaining training records

Requirements:

*Process and Quality Control for wet/dry mix background

*4-7 years in Quality Control in a food manufacturing environment

*Leadership of a quality team for food testing

*GLP Good lab practices and GMP's

*Analytical experience using lab instruments like chromatography and determination of physical properties viscosity, moisture content, particle size, temperature

*Use of titrimetric methods for levels of species in raw materials and finished goods

*Quantitative determination of toxins in raw and finished goods

*Lean Six Sigma certified of any kind a plus

*Hands on in a lab environment at a plant facility while balancing quality initiatives while guiding and training junior quality technicians
