R&D Chemist

The R&D Chemist assists the R&D Manager will daily operations, ensuring the integrity of test samples and data is maintained.  This position supports company’s current products and development of new products.

  • Develop novel traffic paint formulations
  • Ensure test batches are produced with the highest level of quality and reproducibility
  • Perform QA tests accurately and precisely
  • Evaluate and characterize components for novel formulations
  • Summarize and report trends and conclusions drawn from data analysis
  • Assist the Team Lead in his / her daily operations in which project priorities could change
  • Responsible for pertinent quality tests or checks; most matrix development to solve problems assigned by Team Lead, along with some lab procedures / method development to optimize productivity and reproducibility
  • Ensure the integrity (preservation) of test samples and data;
  • Summarize and report on test data
  • Maintain and calibrate all pertinent test equipment
  • Complete projects within the time frame given
  • Ensure the lab has the necessary raw materials and supplies needed to perform duties
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace

Requirements:

  • BS or higher in Chemistry
  • 3+ years’ experience formulating waterbased acrylic coatings
  • Ability to manage own projects
  • Ability to hit the ground running and work fairly independently
  • Someone that understands at a fundamental level why something works in a formulation
  • Down-to-earth, very hands-on, and who can work without too much direction and who are creative problem-solvers. They want someone who is capable of having technical conversations with non-technical people
