RTM Resins Group Leader *

Bring your formulations knowledge in UPR and VE Resin systems for Resin Transfer Molding and infusion compounds for the Composite Industry HERE!  This is an exciting leadership position with a Global Leader in resin technologies for Composites.  This will supervise one Chemist, and lead teams in assisting customers with product formulations, and assisting customers in first time trials.  We may be open for an international candidate with the perfect experience!!!

The main responsibilities are product development and technical service of products for composite applications that are using resin transfer molding, vacuum infusion molding and other closed mold liquid processes.  Examples of end uses are marine, construction, automotive and recreation.  The position is hands on with both formulating and providing technical service.  The candidate should have a full understanding of the mechanics of these processes and full familiarity with all ancillary products used (reinforcements, flow media, reusable silicone, etc.).  The candidate should be mechanically inclined as well as have excellent chemical formulation knowledge, specifically with unsaturated polyester and epoxy vinyl ester chemistries.  The candidate will manage the RTM and infusion laboratory.  Organization and project management skills are important, as well as business acumen and supervisory skills.  This position will have direct interaction with customers, colleagues in R&D, technical service, sales, marketing and operations.  The individual will work closely with sales and marketing, identifying new opportunities for composite formulations, as well as improving existing formulas and processes.  The product leader will supervise a formulation chemist either directly or indirectly.  The position will require about 20% travel throughout North America.  Passport required.  Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.

$130,000 - $165,000 + Bonus

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Minimum Experience:

  • 5+ years with hands on laboratory experience in RTM, infusion and other closed mold liquid molding processes
  • 3+ years with hands on experience in formulation of unsaturated polyester and epoxy vinyl ester resins
  • 5+ years of industry experience
  • 2+ years of leading projects
  • Proven track record in product development and technical service

Desired Experience:

  • 10+ with hands on laboratory experience in RTM, infusion and other closed mold liquid molding processes
  • 5+ years with hands on experience in formulation of unsaturated polyester and epoxy vinyl ester resins
  • 5+ years of leading projects
  • Proven track record in product development and technical service: ability to recite and quantify these successes
  • Supervisory experience

Required Skills:

  • Expert in RTM and vacuum infusion
  • Excellent knowledge in resin chemistry formulations
  • Hands-on laboratory skills
  • Knowledge of physical testing
  • Excellent organization and project management skills
  • Strong written and oral and communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills for customer and colleague collaboration

Required Qualifications:

  • BS degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Composites Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or Physics

Other:

  • Travel required ~20%.
