Summary

The Reliability Engineer is responsible for analyzing and continuously improving plant equipment reliability to achieve the highest degree of equipment effectiveness at the lowest cost. The Reliability Engineer position is responsible for development and implementation of reliability programs that improve process reliability through increased availability and performance of all assets. This engineer will serve as a technical expert, providing critical data and analysis to optimize business decisions.

Duties 

  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance leadership to ensure that equipment inspections are conducted according to agreed-upon schedules
  • Develop, document and implement Preventative Maintenance & Predictive Maintenance programs for all plant equipment and instrumentation to provide continuous improvement of equipment reliability
  • Implement Root Cause Failure Analysis and Reliability Engineering to develop solutions to reduce equipment failure rates
  • Drive the site Reliability program including:
    • Schedule/lead reliability meetings
    • Identify problematic equipment and develop solutions to correct issues
    • Ensure action items are managed to closure
    • Review equipment history, identify failure trends, & develop corrective actions to improve life cycle
    • Record and review reliability KPIs [e.g. mean time between failure (MTBF)]
    • Troubleshoot equipment problems using pump and compressor curves, equipment specification sheets to ensure that equipment is operating as designed
    • Review history to determine Mean Time Between Failures for critical and problematic equipment
  • Implement maintenance-driven capital projects
  • Provide technical support to field maintenance as required to resolve mechanical problems
  • Ensure that all maintenance work is performed in accordance with maintenance engineering standards and to the highest quality
  • Evaluate new technologies and alternatives for equipment diagnosis and repair
  • Use the various monitoring techniques/disciplines to troubleshoot/upkeep equipment including: Ultrasonic Detection, Vibration Analysis, Thermography, Lubrication, Oil Analysis, Motor Testing 

Education/Experience 

  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering degree
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing plant; chemical, petrochemical, refining industry experience preferred. Will consider other industries with appropriate experience
  • Plant reliability/maintenance experience; knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance programs
  • Computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Project
  • Small capital projects (<$200K) and maintenance expense projects experience (develop scope, cost estimate, capital authorization request, justification, design, specifications, competitive bids, purchasing, manage construction contractors and startup)
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder
