Rubber Compounding Chemist
Job Description
Base salary $90,000-$120,000
Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, PTO, 401k.

Key Duties
- Research and evaluate alternative materials for new and improved product development
- Design and execute laboratory experiments, including formulation and testing activities
- Analyze substances to determine composition and concentration of elements
- Plan and carry out complex research projects and testing methods
- Prepare clear, detailed technical reports documenting methods and findings
- Present research outcomes to engineers, operations, and management
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams on materials and process improvements
- Contact suppliers to understand materials, equipment, and manufacturing processes
- Provide technical guidance on chemical processing and test procedures (ingredients, mix times, temperatures)
- Maintain material certifications (e.g., NSF, WRAS, ACS, UL)
- Monitor and support compliance with chemical regulations (RoHS, REACH, CA Prop 65, TSCA)
- Support evaluation of equipment and tooling for current and future processes
Requirements & Qualifications
- Degree in Chemistry or related field required
- 1–5+ years of experience in rubber compounding/formulation and development
- Experience in a laboratory research environment
- Knowledge of rubber materials, rheology, and molding/processing preferred
- Ability to conduct and summarize online technical research
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to learn new technologies and concepts quickly
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with R&D, engineering, and operations
