Scientist / Sr. Scientist
As a Product Development Scientist, you will assist one of our key strategic customers in creating seasonings and spray-dried cheese formulations that meet specific sensory and functional requirements. Reporting to the group’s Manager, the Senior Scientist will be an integral part of a dynamic and collaborative product development team, with a strong focus on customer collaboration. Experience in cheese and/or spray drying is highly valued.
Responsibilities:
- Provide snack seasonings product development support for customers to include building and sustaining relationships within the core customer development teams
- Guide technical excellence and differentiation through robust product design, leveraging technology and implementing feedback from internal and external resources in an ever-changing environment
- Create market-preferred snack seasonings through bench top product development, leveraging culinary input, technical innovation and consumer insights
- Guide customer requests by interacting with a broad multifunctional team to provide best in class solutions
- Conducting plant trials

Salary
$100,000 - $110,000
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of product development experience in the food industry. Must have seasoning development experience with good understanding from design to scale up
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science / Technology, Food Engineering, Chemistry or a related field
- Strong understanding of consumer and general sensory testing, including its application to product development
- Experience collecting and interpreting scientific data, including sensory, analytical, and commercialization
- Experience effectively collaborating across levels and functions within own organization and with outside customers and vendors
- Ability and willingness to travel 10-20%
- Proven success multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
- High degree of ownership and professional commitment
- Desire and ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people
- Good written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with external and internal customers
- Curiosity and innovative thinking
- Proven ability to interpret scientific data, including sensory and analytical, and commercialization
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS Degree and/or PhD in Food Science or a related field
- Experience with SAP, product formulation and retrieval systems
- Technical background with cheese, spray drying, seasonings or combination
- Proficiency in vendor management and development including the implementation of new ingredients as required
