Mid-sized specialty chemical company is looking for recent PhD Chemistry graduate or Post-Doc with experience in Organic Synthesis. The responsibilities for this position will encompass three main areas: (1) Providing support for MSUBI Pilot Plant operations, including tasks such as developing batch records, conducting analytical testing, troubleshooting plant issues, and optimizing chemical processes, (2) developing safe, efficient and scalable process to manufacture specialty chemicals from the bench to Pilot scale and (3) ensuring the upkeep of laboratory equipment and analytical instruments needed to support this work
This is a hands-on position in the laboratory with a high level of independence, autonomy, and intellectual ownership. The successful candidate must have strong communication skills to facilitate cross-site collaboration, engage with team members across locations, and ensure effective coordination on shared objectives

- Participates in the technical transfer of chemical processes from R&D and Pilot Plant laboratories to MSUBI
- Demonstrates the potential for operating with a high-degree of autonomy and initiative, fostering collaboration across company functions (R&D, Pilot Plant, Analytical, Quality Assurance), and with MSUBI counterparts
- Provides technical expertise to drive process improvements, troubleshoots Pilot Plant processes and offers guidance to stakeholders, compiles plant data and prepares summaries to effectively communicate findings
- Utilizes a combination of literature and experimentation to identify visible and scalable and synthetic routes to target molecules
- Verifies receipt of raw materials and tracks their storage in specified locations, works with the Quality Assurance team to coordinate QA actions relating to raw materials and intermediates
- Contributes to the development and optimization of practical standard operating procedures
- Performs instrument validation and maintenance for company-owned analytical equipment at MSUBI, including Gas Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, High- Performance Liquid Chromatography, Karl Fisher Titration, and NMR instrumentation
- Plans experiments and coordinate tasks to fulfill project objectives. Perform multi-step synthesis of organic and organometallic compounds
- Manipulates air/moisture-sensitive and hazardous/toxic/pyrophoric compounds in 500 mL to 12L sized glass vessels
- Acquires and interprets analytical data, with a focus on optimizing chemical processes for yield, throughput, and cost
- Assists in managing laboratory operations, including waste disposal, inventory management, and replenishment of consumables
- Receive initial and annual training in RCRA, handle and dispose of hazardous waste in accordance with RCRA, state and local regulations

Technical Qualifications:
