Scientist / Sr. Scientist, Food Preservation – Research & Development
This innovative company is looking for a talented Food Scientist to join our Research & Development team. This is a key role on the team, specializing in clean label microbial control of products from bench formulation through scale up with the goal of extending shelf-life while maintaining compliance.

Essential Job Functions:
Working with guidance and support from management, and expected autonomy you will:
- Evaluate quality/shelf-life of products using sensory, analytical, physiochemical, and microbial methods and further use gathered data to characterize and maintain product standards
- Work cross-functionally to support continuous improvement and optimization initiatives of current products and projects
- Develop testing methods and data analysis tools to help build in-depth understanding of products, ingredients, and processing conditions as it pertains to food preservation
- Think critically, balance multiple tasks, and be flexible wearing whatever “hat” is needed to support cross-functional teams and help meet company goals
- Contribute to our knowledge base, thought leadership, and company culture through your unique character and Food Preservation skills

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- B.S. / M.S., Ph.D. preferred in Food Science or Microbiology or Biochemistry
- 3+ years of relevant experience in food manufacturing, preservative systems, antimicrobials, microbial control (5+ years for B.S.)
- Background in dairy, meat, bakery or eggs preferred
- Hands on Pilot Plant experience preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
- Self-starter and intellectually curious. Comfortable with ambiguity
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
