Senior Chemist
Privately owned chemical manufacturer looking for a 10+ year experienced polymer scientist to join their team to do research and development of polymeric materials. The company offers an excellent culture and promotes out-of-the-box thinking!
As a Senior Polymer Scientist, you will play a crucial role as a senior technical adviser to the Associate Director of Products and R&D Chemist. Your innovative and implementation skills will be instrumental in developing novel polymer materials for coatings manufacturing. You will formulate performance coatings from new materials and polymers, resolve technical issues across the company, and provide strategic direction for R&D projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate chemical innovations into new and existing company products
- Assist in the scale-up of viable polymers to plant operations
- Manufacture production scale intermediates
- Conduct instrumental analysis of synthesized products
- Identify and evaluate new scientific technologies and methodologies to enhance product development
- Provide analytical support to senior company leadership
- Complete daily development tasks under the direction of the Associate Director of Products
- Design, execute, and interpret experiments to develop new materials and coatings
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex formulation and production issues
- Coordinate with external partners, suppliers, and research institutions to advance project goals
- Develop and implement testing protocols from R&D to manufacturing, ensuring quality and performance standards are met
- Ensure timely delivery of project milestones and objectives
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and summaries to communicate findings, conclusions, and recommendations to senior company leadership, stakeholders, or regulatory agencies
- Provide expert guidance and support on complex chemical issues
- Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes
- Apply advanced analytical techniques to solve challenging problems and improve product performance
- Design and conduct experiments to validate and troubleshoot new formulations and processes
- Develop and optimize chemical processes and products to meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards
- Provide consultation to R&D/QC chemists and technicians, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment
- Facilitate training sessions and workshops to enhance team skills and knowledge
- Demonstrate exacting standards of professional and scientific integrity
- Prepare detailed technical reports, research papers, and presentations
- Ensure accurate documentation to experiments, procedures, and findings
- Communicate results and recommendations to stakeholders effectively
- Ensure all laboratory activities comply with safety protocols and regulatory requirements
- Work with Regulatory Affairs Department to ensure that our products meet current regulatory requirements
- Promote and practice a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the team

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in chemistry or a related field with 10+ years of relevant experience
- Extensive knowledge of organic, inorganic, organometallic, or analytical chemistry
- Proven experience in product development and process optimization
- Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple priorities
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities
- Proficiency in using advanced laboratory equipment and software
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, chemical, or materials science industries
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards (e.g., ISO, GMP)
