Senior R&D Chemist (x2)

The Senior R&D Chemist (x2) will have the following responsibilities:

  • Maintain R&D raw material inventory which includes coordination of chemical requests as well as logging and removing expired raw materials
  • Liaison with the Analytical Lab for finished product and raw material standards
  • Submit completed batch requirements to the micro and stability labs
  • Prepare and ship bulk submission samples as required by Senior R&D Chemist
  • Assist in maintaining daily lab tasks
  • Direct liaison for designated customer account
  • Direct Associate R&D Chemist and R&D Chemists with aspects of their account which could include but not limited to: manufacturing of batches in the R&D Lab, process optimization for formulations, documentation generation, defining / creating release specifications, tracking stability and microbial testing
  • Support efforts with Process Engineering for scale up pilots and production batches
  • Troubleshooting formulas as well as continuous improvement of existing formulas and processes
  • Manage customer interactions through on-site visits, conference calls, and email communications
  • Ability to interact successfully in cross-functional teams and with external vendors / suppliers
  • Work with team on creation of innovative prototypes and presentations to be presented to client base
  • Compile and support certain regulatory aspects
  • Hands on creation and development of a wide range of new personal care products including skin, hair, and body
  • Apply FDA regulations applicable to cosmetic and OTC preparations

Requirements:

  • BS/BA Degree in Chemistry or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in personal care developing products with formulation knowledge in various forms (i.e. emulsions, surfactants, gels, serums)
  • Fluent in the use of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Fluent in English (reading & speaking)
  • Proven history of development of own formulation ideas, industry creativity, innovation, solutions for complex issues and leadership in a team environment
  • Travel will be required to support customer and senior management when needed
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented, excellent follow through, ability to multi-task, well organized, cooperative, and energetic
  • Ability to set own priorities and work independently and effectively in a team environment
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of cGMP and GLP
  • Operational knowledge of standard laboratory equipment
  • Exceptional customer service skills
