Senior Safety Manager
Global organization looking for an experienced safety leader due to promotion!
This role provides leadership and strategic direction to the facility through the application of the business framework and Guiding Principles. As a key leader in the mill, the successful candidate will create value for the organization by ensuring risk is aggressively identified and mitigated, develop, and align facility safety strategies to be consistent with the company / division Health & Safety vision, and ensure leaders and employees are trained and equipped to manage safety. This position reports directly to the facility site leader, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Regional / Divisional Health & Safety Director.
What You Will Do In Your Role
- Promote a safety culture with all team members to help the facility embrace and achieve our Path to Zero Safety Strategy consistent with company’s Safety Vision
- Own and propagate all safety initiatives and programs (HOP, CSO Teams, Safety Training, etc.)
- Significantly contribute to the selection, onboarding, and development of talent, resulting in continuous site-wide alignment with safety
- Actively manage all aspects of compliance (e.g., OSHA, state, local, company standards) including OSHA PSM
- Ensure facility risk profile is addressed through development and implementation of key controls
- Drive continuous improvement using tools and activities, including self-assessments and audit processes; incident / near miss investigations; metrics and targets (leading and lagging indicators); and periodic reviews of performance, culture, and talent
- Effectively communicate facility safety vision, strategies, and performance to internal and external stakeholders
- Manage Workers Compensation process

Job Requirements
The Experience You Will Bring:
- Safety experience in an industrial, oil & energy, military, or manufacturing process environment
- Experience in industrial or military safety leadership
- Experience with OSHA, state, and local safety and compliance standards
What Will Put You Ahead:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in safety, industrial hygiene or engineering degree
- Experience leading process safety programs
- Experience onboarding and developing employees, helping to foster a safety-driven culture
- Experience in leading a site to improved safety and performance
- Experience working in a pulp and paper mill
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
